MGM Resorts International has announced that it will close in-person concierge services at most of its Las Vegas Strip properties.
Effective Monday, concierge desks will no longer operate at MGM Grand, The Signature, New York-New York, Mandalay Bay, Park MGM, and Vdara, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
However, services will remain unchanged at ARIA Resort & Casino, Bellagio Hotel & Casino, and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, with calls for concierge assistance being redirected to the ARIA and Bellagio desks. The Luxor, another MGM property, had previously eliminated its concierge services years ago.
As a result of this move, 34 employees will lose their jobs due to what the company has described as a "streamlining" process. MGM Resorts clarified that reports of around 60 job cuts are inaccurate, with displaced employees being offered other roles within the company or provided transition support.
The decision comes in response to shifting guest preferences, according to MGM representatives, who noted a decline in demand for in-person concierge services. Increasingly, guests are opting for digital self-service options to handle their requests.
This is not the first change MGM has made in recent months. In March, the company reduced its valet and bell services staff at Excalibur, which is located near the site of the future Athletics stadium on the former Tropicana lot.
