The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement on online sports betting integrity with the Ministry of Sports of Brazil, a country that recently legislated and regulated this vertical.

According to the announcement, this alliance will enable the exchange of information on suspicious betting activities related to Brazilian sports and will support collaboration in integrity-related investigations.

The association pointed out that, according to industry data and intelligence company H2 Gambling Capital, IBIA covers more than 70% of the licensed remote betting market in Brazil.

Furthermore, according to the study "The Availability of Sports Betting Products: An Economic and Integrity Analysis", the Brazilian sports betting regulatory regime is expected to generate a turnover of USD 34 billion by 2028.

For IBIA, this growth brings with it an increased responsibility to protect customers, sports, and betting operators against match manipulation.

In addition, a key element of the new Brazilian regulatory framework is the requirement for operators seeking a license to adhere to an independent sports integrity oversight body.

According to the association, this licensing requirement is helping to strengthen its ability to monitor, evaluate, and protect betting transactions in Brazil's regulated sports betting market and maintain the integrity of Brazilian sporting events.

André Fufuca, Brazilian Sports Minister André Fufuca, said: "Today we sign a milestone in the fight against match-fixing in Brazilian sport. Integrity must be a constant principle when it comes to transparency, ethics, and, above all, the correctness of sports results".

"With these agreements, we will have more than enough tools to curb this practice and ensure greater transparency in competitions. Thus, athletes, clubs, organizations, fans, and the entire population will be able to have full confidence in the impartiality of the results and, with this, will have peace of mind to develop the full potential of Brazilian sport," he said.

Khalid Ali, IBIA CEO, said, "IBIA welcomes this important partnership with the Brazilian Ministry of Sports. As the market grows, so does the responsibility to ensure that strong integrity safeguards are in place."

"This agreement will ensure that suspicious betting information is shared promptly with the Ministry to support effective integrity actions. This includes access to detailed account-level data, available only through the IBIA's unique network," he added.

Finally, the association recalled that they monitor over USD 300 billion annually in betting volume on more than 140 sports betting brands worldwide, making them "the largest betting integrity monitor of its kind for private operators".

It should be added that IBIA recently published its global alert data for the first quarter of 2025, detailing that 63 cases of suspicious betting were reported to the relevant authorities.
