At this year's Peru Gaming Show, Novomatic focused on showing its latest Novo Line products related to game mix, stand-alone progressives and linked progressives. López tells Yogonet that sports betting and online gaming have become a common topic for the land-based casinos aiming to expand their gaming offer in the LatAm and Caribbean region, and the challenge for the regulator is how to keep regulation at a similar pace than the evolution of technology.

What were the highlights of Novomatic's presence at Peru Gaming Show 2019? Have you met your expectations for the show, regarding the volume of visits, feedback, potential deals, networking, partnerships?

This year we have been focused on showing our latest Novo Line products related to game mix, stand-alone progressives and linked progressives to complement the entry into the market of the new cabinets shown at PGS last year, Panthera 2.27 and Panthera Curve 1.43. Acceptance and comments received from our customers are very good and also this year we exceeded the expectations we had planned for this show.

Could you give us some details of your current presence in Peru, and your expectations for the remainder of the year? What's your personal view of the regional gaming industry development, and its direct or indirect effects in Peru? What does PGS mean for you as a company this year in particular?

Novomatic has an important participation in the Peruvian market, we work constantly to mantain our standards and continue in our customers' preference. I see a positive trend for the development of the gaming industry on the region. The closer collaboration among the regulators from different countries as well as the information exchange with the operators on diverse regional events are translating into the adoption of best practices. The end result should bring us to clearer and stronger rules that would allow the industry players to execute longer-term investments, both in assets and technology. The effects in Peru can only be positive as this collaboration grows throughout the region.

Could you identify new demands from operators and players; what’s your approach and strategies in that sense? Which are the main topics or upcoming trends of the industry were visitors looking to talk to Novomatic about, especially regarding LatAm and the Caribbean opportunities?

Our market is demanding in innovating, high performance and high technology products. Novomatic always strives to satisfy the demands of the market and continuously works to develop the product according to the required standards and beyond. In regards to other industry segments, sports betting and online gaming have become a common topic for the land-based casinos aiming to expand their gaming offer in the LatAm and Caribbean region.

What is the company's stand and expectations regarding Peru’s ongoing debate over online gaming regulations? What new challenges and opportunities did you find in Peru, for instance, in terms of marketing strategies, regulations, emerging technologies?

In Peru the land-based gaming regulation has been an example for many other countries. So the bar is set at a high level for an online regulation that would allow the industry to keep its growth on a fair basis for all the stakeholders. The challenge then for the regulator is how to keep regulation at a similar pace than the evolution of technology. Novomatic is participating only in those markets that are already regulated such as Colombia, where we have our games on licensed online platforms.
