This week, Yogonet met General Manager Matsui Roxana Orellana who summarised how Matsui is closing 2018, the firm's highlights for the year and the biggest opportunities that lay ahead for the company.

What do you think went well this year for Matsui?

Every year we set a goal, and in 2018 we achieved it. There’s also a lot of new customers coming our way from different regions. It seems as each year goes by the Matsui chips are easily recognized.

What was the last big achievement that you celebrated?

In 2018, we surpassed the number of chips sold, and that was a great achievement for us. As the economy strengthens, we’re seeing more purchases being made especially for casino products. Also, Matsui has expanded its facilities to increase the capacity of the product supply of casino chips. This project was done due to the high demand from our customers for our casino chip products. We needed to improve the annual production amount to meet the much-increased order volume. This way, we can continue to supply our customers high-quality casino chips through a speedier system.

How have your clients and prospects received the 40 new moulds added to Matsui's chip line?

The customers love them! They were very excited and happy with this new addition, and due to this, we’ve received many orders. The 900 series chips were made so it can be used as an RFID chip and a regular casino chip. This new series is heavier in weight than our existing chips and has excellent quality and grip feel. In addition to this, we have two more new models that we will be introducing at the ICE London show in 2019 which the customers will be thrilled about.

How well does the firm product offering encourage innovation for the customer through versatility, usability, and efficiency?

Matsui is always looking for ways to innovate and with technology constantly changing we have to keep up with the trends and see how we can incorporate these new ideas into our products. As a chip manufacturer, we are always looking for ways to provide options for our customers with different chip mould options, colors, and most importantly security.

What are the biggest opportunities and challenges facing the company right now?

We live in rapidly changing times especially for a business like ours. We've had to learn to adapt to new marketing channels web and social, decide how to invest in and utilize new technologies. Learning to embrace change is a challenge that we face but it’s also the new normal, and as a company, we have prepared for it by embracing change so we can meet these challenges head-on.

How do you think the company core business is going to change in the future?

Nothing stays the same. With technology constantly changing there is new hardware, software, services that will have a significant impact on commerce, the global economy, and individual businesses. Our head office in Tokyo will celebrate it’s 40th Anniversary next year. Our company was originally established in 1980 in Japan. To adjust ourselves to the current business environment, we’ve had to change our business style. As things change we change with it, but we’ll always make these changes with our customers in mind so they can benefit from it.

What are your most important goals for next year?

We want to continue to ramp up our productivity, continue creating new products and increase our market share. Every year we set goals and not only goals but SMART goals so we can easily attain them.
