Las Vegas Sands donates $270,000 to LGBTQ+ Center of Southern Nevada

Las Vegas Sands has donated $270,000 to The LGBTQ+ Center of Southern Nevada through its Sands Cares community program. The funding supports the Center’s marketing efforts and covers key administrative and operational costs.

This contribution marks the final year of The Center’s participation in the Sands Cares Accelerator, a three-year program that helps nonprofits expand their impact. The 2025 funding will be used to grow marketing and communications, produce donor engagement content, and continue development of a podcast and an annual impact report.

Sands’ support also continues to underwrite The Center’s separate administrative office space, enabling the organization to expand programs at its main campus.

“We are growing exponentially, and the infusion of support Sands has given us is a significant part of our evolution – both from a physical standpoint in providing the resources for our administrative operations, as well as in giving us the impetus to build greater visibility and awareness,” John Waldron, CEO of The Center, said.

“The marketing capability we’ve been able to build through the Sands Cares Accelerator has greatly expanded our stature, while the administrative support provides us with a firm foundation,” he said. “Sands really understands our strategic vision and has provided vital resources to help us realize our goals.”

Earlier Accelerator funding helped double visits to The Center’s second clinic, the Gavin J. Goorjian Community Health Center, within three months of opening.

“Our investment is geared toward helping The Center continue this trajectory with resources in identified areas to help the organization run effectively and tell its story to all those who can benefit from and support the mission,” Ron Reese, Senior Vice President of Global Communications and Corporate Affairs, said.

The Sands Cares Accelerator was launched in 2017 to help nonprofits in Las Vegas, Singapore, and Macao build capacity through funding and strategic support.
