Gibraltar online gaming industry briefed on No Deal Brexit

Gibraltar’s Deputy Chief Minister Joseph Garcia continued the government’s communications strategy in relation to a No Deal Brexit with a briefing to the Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association, the entity that represents the online gaming industry in Gibraltar.

The detailed briefing, which lasted nearly two hours, was delivered by Garcia together with the government’s Civil Contingency Coordinator Ivor Lopez, according to an official press release issued Friday. 

It included an explanation of Common Operating Picture which is the National Readiness Action Plan. This covered the command structure in place, the planning assumptions and the action taken to mitigate or tackle each area.

This latest briefing has taken place amid a fluid and uncertain political situation in the United Kingdom, which has made it more difficult to predict the outcome.

Garcia repeated the government’s position that the preferred outcome is for Gibraltar to remain in the European Union together with United Kingdom, but that failing this the jurisdiction needs to continue preparations for every eventuality.
