The project was approved last week by an Anderson zoning board, thus allowing the 38,000 square-foot extension that is intended to result in 100 more slot machines, a new restaurant and bar space, and a new drive-through area for valet parking. Groundbreaking scheduled for next April, with construction expected to take 13 to 15 months. Caesars is also undertaking a $32M gambling floor expansion at Indiana Grand Racing & Casino.

Caesars Entertainment announced Sunday its expansion plans at Harrah’s Hoosier Park, its second horse track casino in central Indiana to be expanded, which will see added space for more slot machines and a new restaurant.

The $34 million project for the property was approved last week by an Anderson zoning board. The company plans a 38,000 square-foot expansion that will result in 100 more slot machines, along with restaurant and bar space and a new drive-through area for valet parking.

Previous discussions about adding a hotel remain ongoing, with the expansion set to make the casino a better entity for Anderson, according to Hoosier Park General Manager Trent McIntosh, as reported by the Associated Press.

Groundbreaking is expected next April, with construction expected to take 13 to 15 months.

Caesars is already in the process of expanding its Indiana Grand Racing & Casino gaming floor in a $32 million-dollar project that is set for completion later this year. This new project comes after both properties were allowed to add live table games for the first time beginning in January 2020. Before, they were limited to electronic games.

In terms of properties, the company has been rearranging some of its facilities all across the U.S. Back in October, the brand’s property in Southern Indiana reopened after the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians bought it from Caesars for $250 million. Caesar’s latest move was announced Tuesday, November 2, after the completion of the previously disclosed transaction to sell Harrah’s Louisiana Downs Casino, Racing & Entertainment to Rubico Acquisition Corp. for $22 million. The property has 1,300 gaming machines, table games, a convention space and a racetrack.
