Indiana: 4,000 casino employees furloughed due to COVID-19

Horseshoe Hammond filed a WARN Notice with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development on April 28 citing that 1,693 employees had been furloughed since March 16.

Harrah's Hoosier Park Racing and Casino temporarily laid off 998 workers, Indiana Grand Racing Casino furloughed 1,126 employees back on April 1, and Horseshoe Hammond cited that 1,693 workers had been furloughed since March 16.

The owners of three different gambling facilities have filed WARN Notices with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development announcing their respective furlough measures, which involved around nearly 4,000 workers.

According to all three notices, the furloughs are expected to be temporary, but could become permanent depending on the extent of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, the Indy Channel reports. 

Harrah's Hoosier Park Racing and Casino owner Hoosier Park, LLC filed a WARN Notice with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development on April 29 citing that they had furloughed 998 employees at their casino in Anderson beginning March 16.

Indiana Grand Racing Casino in Shelbyville furloughed 1,126 employees back on April 1, according to the WARN Notice filed by Centaur Acquisition, LLC on April 24.

Horseshoe Hammond owner Horshoe Hammond, LLC, filed a WARN Notice with the DWD on April 28 citing that 1,693 employees had been furloughed since March 16.

While the WARN Act generally requires employers to file 60-day notice, de to COVID-19, many notices have been filed recently, weeks after the initial furloughs were enacted.
