Melco Resorts & Entertainment announced it will shut its Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel slot hall in Taipa at 11:59 p.m. on November 24, as the casino operator continues to consolidate its gaming operations across Macau.
The company announced the move in a press release issued on Wednesday. The venue is part of Melco’s Mocha Clubs network, which specialises in slot-machine gaming.
The closure follows a series of recent shutdowns in the Taipa district, including the Mocha Kuong Fat slot parlour and the Grand Dragon Casino. Melco had earlier indicated that the Grand Dragon Casino would close before the end of the year, along with three smaller slot parlours, including Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel. The Mocha Hotel Royal on the Macau peninsula is also scheduled to cease operations by end-2025.
Melco said the shutdown will comply with all regulations and will be supervised by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) to ensure the process is carried out “smoothly and orderly.” Electronic gaming machines from the site will be redistributed to other Macau casinos with DICJ approval.
The company said all 44 employees affected by the closure will be reassigned to other Melco properties as part of what it called a “seamless transition” for staff.
Customers holding gaming slips issued by the Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel will be able to redeem them at Altira Casino, Mocha Inner Harbor, Mocha Golden Dragon and Mocha Sintra Hotel.
Melco said the arrangements reflect its continued commitment to being a customer-centric organization.
