Pennsylvania gaming revenue hits record $625.5 million in May

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has reported record gaming revenue of $625.5 million in May, up 3.93% from the same month in 2025.

The figure, which includes revenue from casinos, online gaming, sports wagering, video gaming terminals (VGTs), and fantasy contests, surpassed the previous monthly record of $623.1 million set in January 2025. The state generated nearly $270 million in tax revenue from gaming activities during the month.

Amongst Pennsylvania’s gaming operators, Hollywood Casino at Penn National posted the highest total gaming revenue in May, generating $115.4 million, up 7.8% year-over-year. Valley Forge Casino Resort followed with $104.5 million in revenue, though that represented a 1.2% decline compared to May 2025. Rivers Casino Philadelphia reported $60 million, an increase of 3.7% from the previous year.

Revenue from retail slot machines rose 3.2% to $232.1 million in May 2026, compared with $224.9 million during the same period in 2025. The number of slot machines in operation statewide increased to 24,885, up from 24,347 a year earlier.

Parx Casino Philadelphia led all casinos in slot revenue with $35.5 million, followed by Wind Creek Bethlehem with $26 million, and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh with $24 million.

Internet gaming remained one of the fastest-growing segments, generating $254.8 million in revenue during May, a 9.44% increase from the $232.9 million reported a year earlier.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National led the online gaming market with $98.9 million in revenue, up 9.7% year-over-year. Valley Forge Casino Resort generated $69.8 million, an increase of 9%, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia reported $40.8 million, up 10.5%. The state collected approximately $117.7 million in tax revenue from online gaming during the month.

Despite strong performance in other gaming sectors, sports wagering experienced a downturn in May. Total sports betting handle fell to $595.6 million, a 9.1% decrease from the $655.4 million wagered in May 2025. Taxable sports betting revenue also declined 11.4% year-over-year to $52.6 million.

Valley Forge Casino Resort recorded the state's largest sports betting handle at $201.1 million, generating $21.6 million in revenue. Hollywood Casino at the Meadows followed with a handle of $189.1 million and revenue of $15.1 million. Hollywood Casino York generated $3.1 million in revenue from a handle of $44.6 million.
Sports wagering contributed nearly $19 million in tax revenue to the state during May.

Meanwhile, revenue from retail table games increased 1.66% to $81.2 million, compared with $79.9 million in May 2025. Fantasy contests generated $1.12 million in revenue, up 3.3% year-over-year.

Video gaming terminals also generated $3.57 million in adjusted revenue during May, a 3.14% decline from the $3.68 million reported a year earlier. By the end of the month, all licensed VGT operators were offering the maximum allowable five terminals at each of Pennsylvania’s 75 qualified truck stops.
