The Shawnee Tribe has completed a $78 million expansion of Golden Mesa Casino & Hotel. The property now features a 40,000-square-foot gaming floor, new dining options, an RV park, and a four-story hotel, enhancing the amenities offered by the Oklahoma panhandle’s casino-resort destination.
“I am proud to celebrate this expansion as both a significant investment in the community and a bold step toward a future of growth, entertainment, and world-class hospitality in the panhandle region,” said Chris Floyd, President of the Shawnee Development Board of Managers.
The casino, located two miles southwest of Guymon on U.S. Highway 54, now features more than 1,100 electronic games, 10 table games, and a high-limit room. It also offers 99 guest rooms, a fitness facility, and modern furnishings. The adjacent RV park includes 45 slips, showers, and a guest welcome center.

Dining options have also grown with Panhandle Press, serving Starbucks coffee daily, and Cimarron Ridge Restaurant, a full-service eatery open until 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. on weekends. The Gold Spur bar has also expanded with a second location on the casino floor.
The casino first opened in 2019, creating 175 jobs and generating $4 million in annual payroll. With the expansion, employment has more than doubled to 380 positions with a projected $11.2 million annual payroll.
Roy Baldridge, Second Chief of the Shawnee Tribe, noted the economic ripple effect of Golden Mesa. “Today, we have dozens of services and programs for our tribal citizens, most of which are supported by Golden Mesa, and we wouldn’t have any of this if it weren’t for the groundwork laid by former Chief Ron Sparkman and our partnerships with Chickasaw Nation and the panhandle community," he stated.
Operations are managed by Global Gaming Solutions, a subsidiary of the Chickasaw Nation, while ownership remains with the Shawnee Tribe.
Tribal leaders and local officials joined in a ribbon-cutting ceremony. “It’s just so nice seeing a group of people come together and doing something for the community, for the greater good,” said Guymon City Manager Mike Shannon.
“The investment we have made in ourselves and the Guymon community will continue providing our citizens and communities with much-needed and appreciated services such as health, housing, employment, and educational assistance,” said Chief Ben Barnes. “We are thrilled for this new endeavor in Texas County, Oklahoma.”
