Toy and family entertainment giant Mattel is launching its UNO Social Clubs this week, a new nationwide pop-up experience that brings the classic card game to a social event format, debuting in Las Vegas.
The first activation takes place July 18 to 20 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, where one contest winner and a guest will gain exclusive access to a fully branded UNO suite.
The space includes UNO-themed décor, a private bowling alley, a technicolor game room, and a personal game host. Mattel hosted a contest on TikTok to determine the lucky winner of the first UNO Social Club experience.
The event will showcase different versions of the classic card game, including UNO Golf, where players aim for the lowest score by strategically clearing columns; UNO Teams, which pairs players to win as a duo; and UNO Show 'em No Mercy, a more intense version with punishing penalties and knockout rules.
Ray Adler, Vice President and Global Head of Games at Mattel, expressed excitement about the launch: “We created UNO Social Clubs to reimagine what game night can be — bringing people together for real-world fun, connection, and a bit of friendly competition."
The Las Vegas UNO Social Club marks just the beginning of this new concept. Additional UNO Social Club pop-ups will launch later this year in major U.S. cities, transforming bars and venues into game night destinations with themed drink menus, photo moments, and tournament-style play.
UNO, created in 1971 by Merle Robbins, is a popular American multi-player shedding-type game where the main objective is to be the first player to get rid of all the cards in their hand. Mattel's new venture is positioned as a means to get people to reimagine game nights with an emphasis on social interaction and luxury.
