UK bookmaker Betfred has applied for a betting premises licence for units 6 and 7 at General Rees Square, Cwmbran. The application was submitted to Torfaen County Borough Council under the Gambling Act 2005, South Wales Argus reported.

Members of the public can view details of the application by contacting the local licensing authority. Those who may be affected by the proposed betting premises, including nearby residents, local businesses, and their representatives, are invited to submit their comments in writing.

The deadline for submitting representations is June 12, 2025. Under the Gambling Act 2005, it is an offence to provide false or misleading information during the licensing process.

Betfred, headquartered in Warrington, is continuing its expansion across the UK, with this application representing its latest move to increase its presence.

Meanwhile, the council emphasizes that the licensing process is open and transparent, allowing the community to engage in the decision-making.
