On Friday, September 16, GAT Showcase Bogotá took place at the Sheraton Hotel in Bogota, Colombia. The event, which was attended by representatives from almost 20 countries around the world, was deemed "a very productive day" by its organizers, who highlighted the presence of state-of-the-art technology during the gathering.
According to the organizers, the objective of this event was to gather leading companies and figures of the gaming industry from Europe, the United States, and Latin America, with interests and businesses in Colombia and Latin America. "Businessmen, suppliers, and operators of the industry were able to update their knowledge and exchange experiences in a very productive day in which the latest generation technology, applied to gaming equipment for casinos and specialized platforms and software for online betting, shone," the organizers added.
Some of the countries that had commercial representation at the event were Bulgaria, Slovenia, Armenia, Austria, Italy, Germany, Spain, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Malta, Brazil, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, United States, Ecuador, Curacao, Venezuela, among others. The organizers took the opportunity to announce GAT Expo Cartagena 2023, a fair that will be held on March 29-30 next year at the Las Americas Convention Center.
GAT Expo executives highlighted that the eSports Betting Bar area was one of the main attractions due to the simulations and live game demonstrations under the coordination of Fedecolde and the exhibition of Mobadoo's eSports betting software.

The meeting also featured the participation of Coljuegos, the regulatory authority of the gaming industry in the country. John Jairo Altamiranda, vice president of Commercial Development of Coljuegos, highlighted the contributions of the legal gaming industry to the country's economy and the expectation for the closing of 2022 with a collection of around 720,000 million Colombian pesos ($ 163,145), resources that will be destined to the National Government's budget for public health.
"Today Colombia is a leader in Latin America in the regulation of online games and that makes us feel proud, we are a point of reference for success in the region and we have collected impressive figures thanks to its enforcement. It is necessary to keep on fostering competitive advantage, which is why we constantly promote permanent updates to analyze different types of new games that can be introduced to the Colombian market to make them available to the operators and help fight against illegality," Altamiranda said.
José Aníbal Aguirre, CEO of Gaming & Technology Expo events, said: "The meeting had an outstanding representation of Colombian companies and international brands with offices in Bogota, Lima, and Buenos Aires, among other Latin American capitals. I was told by roulette and casino equipment exhibitors that they have effectively signed agreements for approximately eight million dollars."
"The emphasis and innovation of the eSports theme in our events has aroused great interest among operators, as betting on these electronic sports can be added to both eSports Betting Bars and authorized online platforms. Definitely, this showcase format with only one day of investment of time and money for the exhibitor and the sponsor, is a guarantee of productivity to do real business. We are already thinking about expanding the space for GAT Showcase next year," Aguirre concluded.
Furthermore, affiliates and directors of Colombia's National Corporation of Gaming Entrepreneurs (Cornazar) were also part of the event. Elizabeth Maya Cano, president of Cornazar, participated in the opening ceremony and the launching of GAT Expo Cartagena 2023; and highlighted the importance of the Gaming & Technology Expo as a tool to strengthen ties between the stakeholders of the industry in Latin America. Rocío Acosta Jiménez, president of the Colombian Lottery Federation (Fedelco), was also present.
The companies that participated in GAT Showcase Bogota were: Novomatic Latam, Merkur Gaming, EGT, Win Systems, IGT, BetConstruct, Pragmatic Play, Interblock, GLI, Altenar B2B, Alfastreet, Aruze, Aristocrat, Mobadoo, JVL, Betplay, Metamap, America Simulcast, Cockpit Gaming, Copag, Trebol Carpet, RCFC Legal, RPCol, Radio Marcas, Revista el Congreso, and Sadekya.
Evert Montero, president of Fecoljuegos, highlighted the commitment of the entrepreneurs to the industry, the seriousness of the sector in the country, and the importance of the technological component in the evolution of entertainment. "We saw a lot of technology, capacity, and willingness to do business, which in the end will translate into a very important contribution to the health of Colombians. There will always be things to improve and update in terms of regulation, but we are aware that regulation controls illegality; the industry is well and healthy, but we must be vigilant because unfair competition is big and affects the sector," he said.
"The results of GAT Showcase Bogota are optimal, according to the criteria of exhibitors and visitors who have expressed their satisfaction, doing businesses within eight hours and updating their commercial relations with a clear vision of the present moment and very positive expectations for 2023," the organizers emphasized, who are already preparing for the next edition of the fair.
