Las Vegas: Casino Royale to lay off 98 workers

In a notice sent to Nevada officials, executives of the Las Vegas strip property alerted the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation that it planned to lay off 98 employees. Among the licensees were 49 casino merchants and 12 from the housekeeping department.

Casino Royale, located on the Las Vegas strip and owned by hotel chain Best Western, is planning to permanently lay off almost 100 employees.

In a letter dated August 10, Casino Royale executives alerted the Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation that it planned to lay off 98 employees due to hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the licensees were 49 casino merchants and 12 from the housekeeping department.

The letter, which was added to the DETR webpage on Friday, was sent in accordance with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, FR 24 News reports.

The U.S. Labor law requires most employers with 100 or more employees to provide 60 calendar-day advance notification of plant closings and mass layoffs of employees.
