The panel will focus on the real-world applications of research and how experiences and knowledge in sports, sports betting, Jeopardy!, poker, and blackjack overlap with each other. Across May 27-30, International Gaming Institute’s 17th edition of ICGRT will address eSports and video games, cannabis and gambling policy, sports betting, AI for casinos, potential impacts of the Wire Act reversal.

UNLV International Gaming Institute’s (IGI) 17th International Conference on Gambling & Risk Taking (ICGRT), to be held next Monday through Thursday (May 27 - 30) at Caesars Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, confirmed full conference schedule and announced a last-minute addition to the agenda.

Current 23-time Jeopardy! champion, James Holzhauer, will participate in a panel discussion with Andy Bloch of the MIT card-counting team. Holzhauer attributes much of his success on Jeopardy! to his background in sports betting and he will share his story at the ICGRT, organized by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

His session will take place on Thursday, May 30 from 1:45 - 3:10 p.m. The panel will focus on the real-world applications of research and how experiences and knowledge in sports, sports betting, Jeopardy!, poker, and blackjack overlap with each other and with the world outside of gaming.

Additional noteworthy sessions include presentations from Penn Jillette, of Penn & Teller entertainers duo; Becky Harris, the former first chairwomen of the Nevada Gaming Control Board; Santiago Michel, Las Vegas Strip headliner; Martin and Kate St-Pierre, Cirque du Soleil musicians and performers; the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA); and researchers from Harvard, Yale, UNLV, and more than 30 countries.

A sample of the other hot topics planned for the conference include: eSports and video games, cannabis and gambling policy, sports betting, artificial intelligence for casinos, potential impacts of the Wire Act reversal, and women in gaming in the era of #MeToo.
