Delaware's sports betting, iGaming markets soar in March with expenditure and revenue surge

Delaware's sports betting market witnessed a surge in consumer spending during March, with expenditures skyrocketing by 440% compared to the same period last year, reaching $18.9 million. 

Contributing to this growth is the launch of Delaware Lottery's inaugural online sportsbook, powered by Rush Street Interactive (RSI) and BetRivers, which went live in January.

Handle was well ahead of the $3.5 million spent in March last year, as well as also up 37% from $13.8 million in February of this year. In terms of revenue, March proved to be a lucrative month for Delaware's sports betting operators, with total revenue amounting to $1.0 million. This represents a substantial 89.2% increase compared to March of the previous year.

Breaking down the performance of individual operators, Delaware Park emerged as the leading revenue generator in March, reporting $681,548 in revenue from bets totaling $13.1 million. Harrington Raceway followed, securing the second position with revenue of $176,583 generated from $3.3 million in bets. Bally's Dover rounded off the top three operators, recording revenue of $113,692 from $1.5 million in bets.

Additionally, $58,273 in sports betting revenue was attributed to bets placed with retailers across Delaware.

Shifting focus to the online casino segment, March witnessed a substantial increase in total spending, reaching $136 million. This marked a remarkable 227.7% increase compared to March 2023, reflecting a growing appetite for online gaming among consumers.

In terms of revenue, the online casino market continued to thrive, with total revenue reaching $4.6 million in March. This figure represents a substantial 228.6% increase compared to March 2023.

Delaware Park once again emerged as the leader in the online casino market, reporting revenue of $2.0 million across online video and table games. Harrington Raceway followed closely behind, securing the second position with revenue of $1.6 million, while Bally's Dover rounded off the top three operators with revenue of $951,096.
