The new category emphasizes the importance for iGaming operators to incorporate payment methods backed by payment processing. The company's payment solution allows iGaming operators to access a full range of payment methods through a single, streamlined integration.

Paysafe, a specialized payments platform, won in the ‘Payments Provider’ category at the eGaming Review (EGR) North America Awards. The event was held virtually on Thursday, May 27.

Paysafe’s award in the newly introduced category underscores the company’s expanded presence in the U.S. and Canadian-regulated online gaming and iLottery spaces over the last 12 months.

The EGR North America Awards, which celebrate online gaming’s most trusted and innovative service providers, added several new categories in 2021. The new ‘Payments Provider’ category emphasizes the importance to iGaming operators of a robust payment offering, incorporating traditional and alternative payment methods backed by best-in-breed payment processing. Paysafe’s award also reflects its strength as a payments platform plugged into all iGaming verticals, including sportsbook, casino, and iLottery.

Paysafe’s award follows the continued North American roll-out of its unified payments solution, which allows iGaming operators to access a full range of traditional and alternative payment methods through a single, streamlined integration. Encompassing payment processing through Paysafe’s own payment gateway, digital wallets (Skrill) and eCash (paysafecard and Paysafecash), the solution demonstrates Paysafe’s ability to identify and respond to emerging opportunities, while supporting operators in addressing an expanding set of player preferences, the company said.

Philip McHugh, CEO of Paysafe, said: “We are very proud to see Paysafe recognized as the leading payments platform for the U.S. and Canadian regulated iGaming and iLottery spaces, where our wide range of solutions are streamlining the payments journey for operators and players alike. Being named as the first-ever winner in a new ‘Payments Provider’ category also reflects our dedication to innovation as well as the customer experience. With a team positioned to build on this momentum, we’re excited to play a key role in the future of online gaming in North America."

In the last year, Paysafe has continued to respond to this demand by prioritizing initiatives that spur innovation, including those tied to its alternative payment solutions and advanced authentication technologies for fraud prevention. By optimizing for tech-savvy, on-the-move consumers that favor choice and accessibility, Paysafe has successfully positioned itself as North America’s top online gaming payments provider, and this has been demonstrated through numerous high-profile partnerships in the U.S. and Canada, the company said in a press release.

These partnerships have expanded Paysafe’s presence in several U.S. states, including Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Virginia. Expansion into the Canadian province of Alberta’s iLottery space sees Paysafe now processing online payments for the majority of Canada’s regulated provincial iLotteries.
