(Japan).- Tokyo won’t be one location for a license even thou the 2020 Olympic Games are to be held there. Governor Yoichi Masuzoe indicated that the city “does not need a casino resort.”

With Japan set to legalise land based casinos later this year sparking strong competition for the licences to operate a casino resort there, this be the case James Packer and Crown Entertainment who has concentrated much of their efforts in Tokyo will have to look elsewhere now in Japan if they are to secure a license.

Mr Packer and his joint venture company with Lawrence Ho who want to spend $5 billion in Japan developing a casino resort will now have to work hard on finding a new location as reported earlier in the iGaming Post only 3 licenses are understood to be available before the 2020 Olympics and Las Vegas Sands are favourites to receive the first license.
