Grosvenor’s decision to join the resort’s revamp effectively spells the end of a separate redevelopment plan for central Birkenhead.
The firm was linked with a major regeneration project for Europa Boulevard, next to Conway Park railway station and close to the town centre, but the council abandoned the scheme last year.
With the completion of the final phase of New Brighton’s revamp in sight, Rob Mason, director for developer Neptune, said Grosvenor’s decision to invest in the resort was “fantastic news” and could help attract other major national chains to the scheme, known as Marine Point.
Neptune is currently in talks with a number of operators for bars and restaurants as building work continues to progress.
The developer is set to hand over the supermarket building to Morrisons next week so it can start fitting it out within weeks in preparation for opening in October.
Digital cinema The Light should also open in the same month.
