The company has also decided to close its office in the Ukraine, where the gaming market faces an uncertain future following a casino fire and subsequent closure of that market.

Octavian CEO Harmen Brenninkmeijer said: “While many of Octavian’s markets are proving to be resilient in the face of a global economic downturn, both Russia and the Ukraine have suffered from local market changes and events that are beyond our control.”

“In Russia, gaming is to be allowed in four designated regions but the current level of investment from operators in this reshaped market does not warrant us having a local office,” added Brenninkmeijer. “In the Ukraine, meanwhile, a tragic event at one venue has had a wider impact across the market, and the long-term consequences for gaming in this region are unclear.”

Octavian will serve customers in Russia and the Ukraine with systems, games and other solutions through its St. Petersburg office and will continue to supply leading third-party products through its global OctaSupplies division.
