SBC Summit Americas will introduce a dedicated Prediction Markets Forum as part of its upcoming programme, reflecting the rapid rise and regulatory uncertainty surrounding the emerging sector in the United States sports betting market.

The forum, scheduled for June 11 on the Breakout Stage, will bring together operators, legal experts, and industry analysts to examine the expansion of prediction markets, the entry of sportsbooks into the space, and the compliance and integrity challenges facing the vertical.

The initiative comes amid a surge in interest in event-based contracts, which gained mainstream attention during the 2024 U.S. presidential election and have since attracted major betting operators including DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics.

Dedicated platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket have also gained traction through partnerships and sponsorships.

However, the sector faces increasing scrutiny, with lawsuits from U.S. states and land-based gaming groups, as well as enforcement actions and conflicting federal rulings, creating uncertainty around regulatory obligations.

Prediction markets will define the American market in 2026. But navigating the grey area between financial trading and traditional betting is creating real uncertainty for the sector,” said Rasmus Sojmark, chief executive and founder of SBC. “This forum will bring together the people who are shaping this space to help the industry understand what comes next.”

The four-session programme will be chaired by Patrick Everson, sports betting analyst and contributor to FOX Sports, and will open with an introductory session examining the evolution of event contracts and their rapid growth into a potential billion-dollar segment.

Subsequent sessions will explore how sportsbooks are entering the prediction markets space, with speakers discussing operator strategies and the potential role of state-by-state partnerships.

Regulatory challenges will also be a central focus, with legal expert Daniel Wallach set to address the evolving legal framework, ongoing litigation, and compliance issues facing operators.

A final session will examine the long-term outlook for prediction markets, including potential U.S. Supreme Court scrutiny and the implications for both land-based casinos and online sportsbooks.

The topic will also feature on the conference’s Leaders Stage, where Joshua B. Sterling (Partner, Milbank) and Alex Kane (CEO, Sporttrade) will discuss how operators, regulators, and investors are responding to the rapidly evolving landscape.

The Prediction Markets Forum forms part of the wider SBC Summit Americas programme, which includes sessions on sports betting, payments, regulation, technology, affiliation, leadership and player protection across North and Latin America.
