Nebraska: WarHorse Lincoln advances Phase 3 with gaming and dining additions

WarHorse Lincoln, Nebraska's second-largest casino, is entering Phase 3 of its construction roadmap. The next development stage will add more than 1,100 slot machines and 18 table games, introducing new dining venues during a buildout scheduled through summer 2027.

The next stage of construction begins Monday, February 9. To accommodate construction activity, the casino will close its southeast parking lot. Management said an alternative parking area will be made available, supported by complimentary shuttle service to transport guests to and from the facility during the renovation period.

The casino will remain open and fully operational throughout Phase 3, with arrangements in place to maintain guest access.

Planned additions during the latest construction phase include Nebraska Ale Haus, a sports bar, and Big Fire Chop House, a steakhouse concept. These venues are scheduled to open alongside the expanded gaming floor as work progresses.

Lance Morgan, president and CEO of Ho-Chunk Inc., the parent company of WarHorse Lincoln, said the project represents a significant step in the property’s ongoing development.

“While guests may notice changes during construction, the end result will be a dramatically enhanced destination—one that offers more dining variety, more entertainment, and an even better experience,” Morgan said.

The expansion will add about 74,000 square feet and cost about $70 million, Morgan said previously.

The Lincoln casino opened in September 2022. It completed a second phase of construction in November 2024, adding table games and more slot machines. Construction on the casino’s third phase was originally estimated to start in the spring of 2026.

The casino had previously shared plans for a fourth phase of construction that would start soon after the end of phase three. Phase four will include a hotel and event center, said Lynne McNally, CEO of the Nebraska Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association and director of government relations at WarHorse.
