Spanish Ambassador visits SiGMA Malta headquarters as cross-border engagement grows

José Maria Muriel, Ambassador of Spain to Malta, visited the Balzan office of SiGMA on January 12, 2026, in a meeting that focused on exploring collaboration opportunities across technology and innovation sectors.

The visit included a tour of SiGMA’s Malta headquarters, guided by members of the organization’s Business-to-Government (B2G) team. Heathcliff Farrugia, Chief Operating Officer & International, Government Relations, and Robert Cutajar, Head of International and Government Relations (Europe & Mediterranean), led the delegation.

The Ambassador was introduced to SiGMA’s operations and various initiatives, including tours of the MedTech World and iGaming Academy offices.

The meeting provided a platform for both parties to exchange views on global industry trends and discuss potential avenues for cooperation. Ambassador Muriel met with SiGMA leadership to gain insight into the company’s strategic direction, technological projects, and international networking programs.

SiGMA is currently strengthening its presence in international markets, including Spain, and continues to engage with stakeholders involved in shaping industry policies and fostering transnational partnerships. 

The visit was positioned as part of SiGMA’s ongoing efforts to connect with international decision-makers and develop partnerships that support innovation and global market integration. According to the organization, such interactions help identify areas for mutual development and expand its network of influential collaborators.

In the coming month, SiGMA will host AIBC Eurasia from February 9 to 11, 2026, a platform for international business and technology leaders to engage on future-focused industry opportunities. The event is expected to bring together a wide range of participants involved in global collaboration and innovation.
