The Durango Casino & Resort has started construction on a $385 million third-phase expansion that will add 275,000 sq. ft. to the property’s podium on its northern parking lot, according to details released this week.
The project follows the property’s $120 million Phase II expansion, completed three weeks earlier on the south end.
Phase III is expected to take about 18 months to complete. All existing resort amenities will remain open and accessible during construction, with the operator projecting minimal disruption to guests.
The expansion will introduce an expanded casino floor with approximately 400 additional slot machines, increasing the property’s total from about 2,200 units. Plans also include a 36-lane bowling facility, movie theaters, multiple restaurant concepts, food hall outlets, and new entertainment venues.
The Phase II south expansion added more than 25,000 sq. ft. of casino space, including a new high-limit room with 120 machines, additional gaming space with 130 slot machines, and a new parking garage.
“The larger $385 million 2.0 expansion should drive growth further,” said Barry Jonas, an analyst with Truist Securities. “The 2.0 shouldn’t delay any other pipeline projects, with further details potentially revealed around the fourth quarter of 2026. Construction continues across Green Valley Resort and Sunset Station renovations (in Henderson), and while there will be some disruption in the first half of 2026, management continues to target a net ROI of 20%.”
