As the year draws to a close, Yogonet spoke with leading figures and experts from the industry across Latin America, who shared an assessment of 2025, as well as their expectations and projections for 2026.
Guillermo Gabella, Director of Public Affairs and Legal Matters at Grupo Boldt, spoke exclusively on these issues. He also commented on the death of Antonio Ángel Tabanelli, the group’s mentor and a leading figure in Argentina’s gaming industry, as well as his legacy and what lies ahead for the company in his absence.
What assessment can you make of what 2025 was like for BOLDT?
It was a very special year. Leaving aside corporate matters, it was the year in which the group’s mentor, Antonio Ángel Tabanelli, passed away—an indispensable figure not only for our group, but for Argentine business as a whole. However, while his departure leaves such an immense void, it also leaves a legacy: a solid business group with an exceptional reputation and truly admirable development across its various lines of business.
2025 was a year of strong recovery, as well as significant internal consolidation, during which all business units were strengthened and, in some cases—such as BPlay—saw exceptional growth. It was also the debut of the boleta única, in which Boldt Impresores S.A. played a prominent role. Along the same lines, Boldtech S.A. renewed its contract with the City of Buenos Aires to process traffic camera fines in the district. These are just some of the group’s highlighted milestones.
Which piece of news or industry development do you consider the most important of the year that is ending, and why?
I think it is very positive that a bill was not passed, which, behind the appearance of regulating official gaming, ultimately would have become a major tool benefiting only clandestine and illegal gambling operators, to the detriment of lotteries and the provinces, as well as the companies that operate official gaming.
Along the same lines, I believe there have been very positive actions by various agencies and lotteries in the country to pursue illegal gambling, based on essential coordination with judges and prosecutors.
What are the company’s expectations for 2026?
We have very high expectations. We hope to begin the year with renewed contracts for the casinos in Tandil, Mar del Plata, and Miramar. We expect something similar for casinos in the Province of Córdoba.
We also hope to strengthen the Bplay brand—currently the business unit with the greatest growth potential within the group—through new licences and sustained growth.
Finally, BGaming has also consolidated its market and introduced new products for lottery agencies, which will undoubtedly be fundamental for that very popular and traditional line of business in Argentina.
What lies ahead for the online gaming sector, with a brand that continues to grow as is the case with Bplay?
We hope to strengthen our brand, implement improvements to our platform and obtain new licences. We are very proud that our company—the only operator in the market that is 100% Argentine—is competing on equal terms with major international companies.
In that regard, I would highlight, across our entire group, the quality and commitment of our people, without whom these achievements would not be possible. It is the best tribute to Antonio Tabanelli, who, without a doubt, looks down from Heaven with pride at our achievements and his legacy.
