Safer Gambling Week 2025 has delivered its strongest results to date, generating more than 80 million impressions across X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram, according to data shared by the Betting & Gaming Council (BGC).
Newly released data from the campaign, which ran from 17 to 23 November, shows a significant 40% increase on last year’s performance. The initiative also attracted political support, with a record number of senior cross-party MPs and peers lending their backing. Among them were Gambling Minister Baroness Twycross, Shadow DCMS Secretary Nigel Huddleston MP, and Shadow Gambling Minister Louie French MP.
This year’s campaign again received full endorsement from the Gambling Commission and its Chief Executive, Andrew Rhodes. Chelsea FC was among the well-known football clubs to support Safer Gambling Week this year, sending the safer gambling message out to its 25 million followers on X.
Now in its ninth year, Safer Gambling Week is described as an initiative set to spark a national conversation among staff, customers, and their friends and families about safer gambling, while showcasing the wide range of tools that can help people stay in control of their betting.
The BGC highlighted that these safer gambling tools and protections are only available within the regulated sector. "The growing illegal and harmful black market is determined to undermine this progress, where customers receive none of the safeguards, monitoring, or support that licensed operators provide," the group said.
BGC Chief Executive Grainne Hurst said: “Safer Gambling Week 2025 has delivered record engagement, underlining our industry’s commitment to raising awareness of the safer gambling tools available to customers.
“The growth in engagement shows our message is reaching more people than ever. In previous years, increases in online activity have translated into greater uptake of tools such as time-outs and deposit limits, and we expect to see the same trend again.
“Thanks to the efforts of operators, organisations and supporters across the country, millions more people are now better informed about how to stay in control and enjoy betting safely. That is something our entire industry can take real pride in.
“As always, our commitment to safer gambling does not begin and end with this campaign. Safer Gambling Week shines a spotlight on the work we carry out year-round, ensuring that the regulated industry continues to prioritise customer protection every single week of the year.”
The Safer Gambling Week campaign, organised by the Betting and Gaming Council, BACTA, and the Bingo Association, saw a push of safer gambling messages both online and in land-based venues, aiming to encourage a nationwide conversation about betting responsibly.
The campaign was also proud to continue its partnership with EGR, whose Safer Gambling Forum provided a valuable platform for the industry to exchange best practices, showcase ongoing work on safer gambling, and hear important updates from key safer gambling charities.
