Graduate students pursuing advanced research on gaming now have a chance to work directly with the American Gaming Association through a funded internship program that pairs academic objectives with industry needs.

Through the Applied Research Experience Internship, the AGA invites master’s-level students and above to submit proposals for original research using primary or secondary data. Each selected project can receive up to $5,000 in funding and must meet academic requirements while producing results the association can apply to the US gaming sector.

Required qualifications include strong analytical and communication skills, familiarity with qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and interest in research connected to consumer behavior, gambling activity, or operational practices in the industry.

“This program reinforces the AGA’s commitment to strengthening the research foundation that supports a responsible and innovative industry,” said Dr. Carly Johnson, DrPH, MPH, Director of Research, American Gaming Association. “We’re proud to support the next generation of researchers whose insights will advance our understanding of the issues shaping gaming’s future.”

Students selected for the internship will conduct their work under the supervision of the AGA research team. The association said the program offers regular mentorship and structured guidance, and participants will collaborate with the team on a research cadence and scope that satisfies both academic and industry-oriented requirements.

Proposals are being accepted now through January 30, 2026. Interviews will take place on a rolling basis through early February 2026.
