Caesars Entertainment and Monmouth Park marked a new addition to New Jersey’s sports wagering sector on Monday with the opening of a trackside Caesars Sportsbook at Monmouth Park in Oceanport. The launch was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local officials and executives from both organizations.

The new facility, built alongside the Monmouth Park clubhouse, spans 16,000 square feet and combines indoor and outdoor viewing areas with direct sightlines over the historic racetrack. The venue includes wall-to-wall screens, more than 25 self-service betting kiosks, a centrally located bar operated with Union Square Events, and a VIP section.A Shake Shack outlet has also been added to the space, serving its full menu. Alongside sports wagering, the venue provides pari-mutuel race betting.

Dan Shapiro, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer at Caesars Digital, said: “It’s fitting to open this cutting-edge venue at Monmouth Park, where legal sports betting in New Jersey first launched, and add to its rich history.”

“With this investment, we are proud to continue to support horse racing in the Garden State. We expect that the new integrated sports wagering experience will draw new fans from the Jersey Shore and beyond.”Dennis Drazin, Chairman and CEO of Darby Development LLC, which operates Monmouth Park Racetrack, noted the long preparation behind the project. “We are so proud to partner with Caesars and delighted to offer fans this new state-of-the-art sportsbook,” he said.

“This has been a long time in the making, and it’s satisfying to finally see it come to fruition as we continue the expansion of the Monmouth Park facility as a top entertainment and gaming destination in the State.”

The opening completes a multi-year effort to build Monmouth Park’s on-site sportsbook presence, which began in 2018 when the track accepted New Jersey’s first legal in-person sports wager following the end of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act. The new venue is positioned as the track’s most extensive offering to date for on-site sports bettors.

New Jersey residents aged 21 and above can also access Caesars’ digital platform through the Caesars Sportsbook & Casino app. The app offers same-game parlays, player props, futures, in-play markets, and streaming of major sporting events, including NFL games. It also features online casino games and a suite of responsible gaming tools such as deposit, spending and time limits, as well as cooling-off functions.

Caesars highlighted the company’s involvement in responsible gaming initiatives. The company launched Project 21 in 1989, becoming the first commercial casino operator to introduce a structured program aimed at addressing problem gambling

In 2024, Sportsbook received RG Check accreditation from the Responsible Gambling Council in Ontario, a designation recognizing adherence to high standards in responsible gaming practices. The company also received the National Council on Problem Gambling’s award for Corporate Social Responsibility.
