Online gaming solutions provider SOFTSWISS announced that Eleni Panagiotopoulou, the company’s Head of Anti-Money Laundering, has been named AML or MLR Professional of the Year at the Global Regulatory Awards 2025, recognising her leadership in strengthening compliance and financial-crime controls across multiple jurisdictions.

The award honours individuals who have made outstanding contributions to compliance and responsible gambling in an increasingly complex regulatory environment. Winners are selected for demonstrating expertise, operational impact and commitment to high industry standards.

“It’s an honour to receive this award, but even more so to see AML excellence recognised on an industry stage,” Panagiotopoulou said. “This recognition belongs to our entire team – every analyst, every partner, and every department that supports compliance as a shared responsibility. Together, we’re building not just safer systems, but a stronger and more trustworthy industry.”

Panagiotopoulou has set new benchmarks for AML operations over the past year, expanding team capacity for transaction monitoring and case reviews, and driving a 75% increase in suspicious activity reports submitted to regulators. The company also credited her with implementing automated transaction-screening tools and real-time analytics to improve fraud-detection accuracy.

She updated SOFTSWISS’ AML policies across jurisdictions including Brazil, Peru, South Africa, Malta, Curacao, Serbia and Nigeria, ensuring the company remained aligned with regulatory requirements as it expanded globally. Panagiotopoulou also represented SOFTSWISS on international industry panels promoting ethical approaches to financial-crime prevention.

Her broader impact included delivering more than 25 hours of AML and responsible-gambling training for employees and industry operators. She also contributed insights on emerging AML trends and the role of artificial intelligence in early detection of risky behaviour in the 2026 iGaming Trends Report. You can download the report here
