A team of investors from Gateway Ventures, a Vienna-based startup investment platform, visited the SiGMA Group headquarters in Malta on November 11, 2025, as part of their ongoing exploration of business and investment opportunities on the island.
The delegation was welcomed by SiGMA Group Chief Operating Officer Heathcliff Farrugia, who led a guided tour of the organization’s offices. Their visit concluded with a presentation highlighting SiGMA’s international footprint and its contribution to the iGaming and emerging technology ecosystems.
The engagement followed the recent SiGMA Central Europe event held earlier this month at Fiera Roma in Italy, which brought together more than 30,000 participants, including industry leaders, investors, and startup founders. The large turnout reaffirmed SiGMA’s role as a meeting point for technology-driven business communities worldwide, its organizer said.
The meeting between Gateway Ventures and SiGMA provided a platform for discussion on Malta’s evolving startup sector and the increasing role of venture investment in fostering innovation. Farrugia’s presentation emphasized the SiGMA Group’s role in connecting forward-looking enterprises across gaming, entertainment, and technology sectors, while the visiting investors shared insights into the investment trends shaping Europe’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Gateway Ventures, headquartered in Vienna, operates as a collaborative investment network that connects early-stage companies with both private and institutional investors. Its portfolio spans sectors such as health, education, and digital services. Through a community-driven approach, the firm focuses on identifying and scaling promising startups that demonstrate strong innovation potential.
SiGMA continues to support early-stage ventures through initiatives like the SiGMA Pitch competition and the Startup Village, which give startups direct access to investors and industry decision-makers at its global events.
