October marks Cybersecurity Awareness Month — a global reminder that safety online starts with small daily habits. For iGaming players, these habits matter even more, as every login, deposit, and device connection can open doors to risk.

Atlaslive’s Information Security Lead, Maksym Shapoval, states that security doesn’t require advanced technical skills, just consistent awareness.

He notes that passwords remain the first and most crucial line of defense. Strong, complex combinations, paired with two-factor authentication, dramatically reduce the chance of unauthorized access. It’s also recommended to use a password manager and avoid the “Remember Password” feature on websites.

Device security is the next key step.

Updating systems regularly, avoiding public Wi-Fi or USB ports, and using encryption can prevent most common cyberattacks. A phone or laptop without proper protection can be compared to an open door; sooner or later, someone may walk in.

When it comes to payments, the expert recommends using a separate virtual card with a limited balance and enabling instant transaction notifications to spot suspicious activity early.

Cybersecurity, at its core, is a routine — not a one-time setup. Every update and cautious click helps keep your gaming experience safe.
