Galaxy Entertainment Group announced Tuesday that Chief Financial Officer Ted Chan Ying Tat will resign effective October 27.
The company said Chan is leaving to pursue personal interests. Thomas Arasi, a veteran casino executive, will replace him as CFO.
Galaxy Chairman Francis Lui Yiu Tung said Arasi brings more than 35 years of experience in finance, hospitality, and integrated resorts. “Under Tom’s leadership, we will continue to have an exceptionally strong finance function to support the group’s business performance and strategic growth," he stated.
Arasi previously served as president, COO, and board member of Bloomberry Resorts Corp, operator of Solaire Resort & Casino in Manila and Solaire Resort North in Quezon City. He stepped down from that role in December 2024.
Arasi also held senior roles as president and CEO of Marina Bay Sands Pte Ltd in Singapore, president and COO of Lodgian Inc, and president of InterContinental Hotels Group Plc.
The company chairman said Arasi and Chan will work together to ensure a smooth transition.
In expressing appreciation for Chan’s service, Lui added: “He played a key leadership role with the management team in consolidating the company’s position as the market leader in the industry.”
Chan joined Galaxy in 2018 as COO for Japan development. The firm explored the Japanese market through to 2022, but ultimately decided not to proceed with any bid for an integrated resort there.
Chan was later appointed CFO in March 2023. He led the company’s financial operations, corporate finance, and investor relations functions.
Before joining Galaxy Entertainment, Chan served as Chief Operating Officer of Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd from 2012 until his resignation in 2016 for personal reasons. He began his career in Macau’s VIP gaming sector with Amax, where he oversaw services at the Altira Macau casino resort in Taipa.
“I am grateful for the opportunities, challenges, and experiences in Galaxy Entertainment over the past seven years,” Chan said. “The journey has been both professionally rewarding and personally enriching.”
