SiGMA Group has released a new documentary, produced with GamingMalta, highlighting Malta’s role as a global hub for the gaming industry.
The film uses the SiGMA Euro-Med 2025 summit as a case study in regulation, innovation, and public-private collaboration.
Euro-Med 2025 brought together 12,000 delegates and over 400 speakers, reflecting Malta’s alignment with its national strategy and the region’s regulatory shifts.
Prominent voices from Malta’s leadership and industry feature in the film, including Ivan Filletti, CEO of GamingMalta; Charles Mizzi, CEO of the Malta Gaming Authority; Silvio Schembri, Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects; Fabian Demicoli, Head of EU Affairs and Communications at the Malta Chamber of SMEs; and SiGMA Group founder Eman Pulis.
“Gaming in Malta is a success story. It’s one of the main pillars of the local economy, so I would say the result speaks for itself,” Mizzi said, while Filletti described Malta as “a home” for gaming companies.
The film connects the summit’s agenda to Malta Vision 2050, with discussions on policy, compliance, responsible gambling, and emerging technologies such as AI and Web3. "The gaming industry is in fact listed as one of our priority areas, not only to sustain the growth but also in the next transformative age,” confirmed Silvio Schembri, Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects
Gaming contributes more than 12% of Malta’s GDP, accounts for 6–7% of national GVA, and employs over 14,000 people. "There’s a huge ripple effect-- the AV industry, the catering industry-- we need to find a way to continue working together for the benefit of the Maltese economy and the Maltese people,” Demicoli said.
Filmed against the backdrop of Euro-Med week, the documentary also captures key highlights, including the Business-to-Government reception at Fort St Angelo, the launch of SiGMA Vision 2030, and the Awards Night, which recognised leaders across 27 categories.
The SiGMA Foundation auction raised €103,500 in support of education, health, and sustainability projects, while the SiGMA Poker Tour at Portomaso added a competitive and fundraising dimension to the week’s activities.
Looking forward, SiGMA confirmed the Malta summit will shift from September to March starting in 2026. "Our 2030 vision is to match that energy with the players on the B2C community, but also with governments," said Pulis. "We want SiGMA to become the most trusted authority, where players, the B2B community and regulators and governments converge to have the industry grow sustainably."
