Inter-agency raids on illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hubs and related mining sites led to the arrest and eventual deportation of 91 Chinese nationals, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
The group departed on September 19 aboard a Philippine Airlines flight bound for China. The flight was arranged with the assistance of the Chinese embassy, which coordinated with Philippine authorities to facilitate the deportation.
The Chinese nationals were taken into custody in joint operations with the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission. The raids targeted POGO hubs in Pasay and Parañaque, along with mining operations in Homonhon.

BI clarified that while 91 individuals have been deported, others remain under government custody due to pending court cases and related legal issues.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the deportation was carried out as part of the enforcement of existing immigration laws. “We remain steadfast in enforcing our immigration laws. Those who abuse their stay in the Philippines and engage in unlawful activities will be dealt with accordingly,” he said.
The operation was implemented by BI’s Deportation and Implementation Unit under Chief Atty. Alexi Val Arciaga, in coordination with law enforcement agencies.
BI stated that it will continue to coordinate with concerned agencies in implementing directives from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. against illegal POGO activities.
