The Cabinet of Ministers has approved new licensing rules for Ukraine’s gambling sector, allowing regulator PlayCity to issue new licenses and confirm existing ones.
The move is expected to bring nearly UAH 50 million (US$1.21 million) in additional revenue to the state budget, according to a statement on PlayCity’s official Telegram channel via Interfax Ukraine.
To obtain a license, applicants must demonstrate an impeccable business reputation, "have no ties with the aggressor state" (Russia), and implement all necessary responsible gaming measures.
PlayCity emphasized that these requirements apply not only to new applicants but also to current licensees, who have two months to submit documentation confirming compliance.
Failure to meet the requirements could result in fines or revocation of the license, the agency warned.
PlayCity noted that the additional revenue will be directed to strengthen national defense capabilities, including the purchase of drones for the Defense Forces.
