Hard Rock Casino Rockford celebrated its first anniversary on September 3 with an all-day event honoring employees and the community.
The casino hosted an eight-hour employee celebration featuring a DJ, slideshow, cornhole tournament, giveaways and other activities, the Rockford Registar Star reported. Among those in attendance was Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, who joined employees for the celebration.
"It's hard to believe it's been a year," Geno Iafrate, president of Hard Rock Casino Rockford, said. "It's been a crazy year. I can't believe it's gone by already, and I'm so proud of the 1,000 team members that make this thing what it is every day."
Since opening, the casino has generated more than $36 million in tax revenue for the City of Rockford and the State of Illinois, according to a news release. The venue has also welcomed more than one million visitors from around the world in its first year of operation.
Looking ahead, Iafrate said expansion remains a top priority, with plans to add new amenities in the future. "I've been in this business for 30 years and the Hard Rock is head and shoulders above any other place I've ever worked.”
