The creation of the International Gaming Federation (FIJA) was made official at GAT Expo CDMX 2025. This new organization seeks to strengthen the joint efforts of associations and guilds in the Latin American gaming sector.
The announcement was led by Evert Montero, President of FECOLJUEGOS Colombia, who was appointed as FIJA's first president. The executive explained that the decision was taken following a meeting of regional leaders held during the expo.

Thus, the federation will have as its initial members Miguel Ángel Ochoa, president of AIEJA (Mexico); Lorena Rojas, president of APOJA (Paraguay); Fernando Calderón, president of the National Gaming Society SONAJA (Peru); Elizabeth Maya Cano, president of CORNAZAR (Colombia); David Moniz, president of the Dominican Association of Gaming Casinos; and Javier Milián, president of CIBELAE (Ibero-American Corporation of State Lotteries and Betting).
The news was already partially announced at the GAT CDMX Academy, held on Wednesday, although at that time the initiative was identified by the name Latin American Network of Games of Chance and Gambling.
Finally, after the meeting of its founding partners, it was decided to move forward with the final name: International Federation of Games of Chance (FIJA).

In his speech, Evert Montero emphasized the historical significance of the announcement: "We want to announce that today is a historic day for the gaming industry. First, I want to inform you that the International Gaming Federation has been created in Latin America. We have sat down, discussed the needs of the industry in Latin America, and agreed on many things."
The Colombian leader also highlighted the spirit of unity that will guide the new institution: "We know that we share common concerns and have very important contributions to make to this group," he said. Finally, Montero expressed his commitment to working on a shared agenda that will strengthen the industry throughout the region: "Today, we committed to working on common goals. It is an important commitment, and with everyone's help, we will move forward. We hope that many more associations will join this International Federation of Games of Chance," he concluded.
In this way, FIJA establishes itself as a regional coordination body, with the aim of representing Latin American gaming associations in a unified manner, promoting dialogue with regulators, and strengthening the industry's international positioning.
