Italy’s Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM) has revoked the operating license of gaming platform Multigioco SRL. The regulator ordered the company to wind down its operations after failing to meet payment obligations.
On 1 August, the operator was served with a document giving it 20 days by which to order its finances. The enforcement notice was disclosed only after the deadline had passed.
The regulator has flagged Multigioco for unpaid taxes, penalties, and interest, citing repeated contract breaches and loss of trust. It said the company failed to meet obligations on taxes, concession fees, extension costs, and Sport Rescue Fund reimbursements. Criminal proceedings are expected to follow. ADM also noted multiple complaints from players and account holders over unpaid balances.
“Due to repeated breaches of its contractual obligations, (Multigioco) has profoundly undermined the relationship of trust existing with the Administration," the document states at one point.
Multigioco’s parent company, Elys Game Technology, relaunched the platform in 2023 under the Newgioco brand. A year later, Elys sold the brand to an undisclosed buyer. As a result of Multigioco SRL having its concession to operate as a provider of remote gambling revoked, the site’s servers are no longer functioning.
