The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has unanimously voted to renew the Category 4 Satellite casino license for Hollywood Casino Morgantown in Berks County.
The casino is operated by Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing Association, LLC.
The board determined that the operator had successfully met all obligations under its initial license, making it eligible for a five-year renewal.
The decision followed a structured review process, allowing both the operator and the public to provide information. A public hearing was held in April 2024 in Caernarvon Township, the casino’s host municipality, where Hollywood Casino Morgantown personnel presented exhibits and testimony detailing the facility’s operations since its last license renewal. Members of the public were also given the opportunity to share their views on the casino’s impact on the community.
The board’s decision was also informed by reports from local government officials, community groups, the Pennsylvania State Police, and several divisions of the PGCB, including the Office of Enforcement Counsel, Bureau of Investigations and Enforcement, Office of Compulsive and Problem Gaming, and Bureau of Casino Compliance.
Additionally, a public hearing was held in Harrisburg on the day of the vote, held on Wednesday, providing board members an opportunity to question casino representatives on any outstanding issues prior to finalizing the renewal.
Since opening in December 2021, Hollywood Casino Morgantown has generated $315.7 million in gross revenue from retail slot machines, table games, and sports wagering, contributing $143.9 million in taxes to the Commonwealth. The casino operates 675 slot machines and 29 table games and employs 335 staff members.
