A multi-million-dollar investment is set to reshape Guymon’s tourism offering later this month as the Shawnee Tribe, in partnership with Global Gaming Solutions, prepares to unveil the expanded Golden Mesa Casino. The $78 million expansion will be officially presented to the public on Friday, August 22, opening its doors after a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m.
The development transforms the casino into a larger entertainment hub, adding a 99-room hotel, a full-service restaurant, and a 45-slip RV park. The gaming floor now spans 80,000 square feet, accommodating more than 1,100 electronic games and 10 table games. The upgrades are expected to boost the casino’s daily workforce to about 250 employees, an increase from the 175 jobs created when it first opened in 2019.
Shawnee Chief Ben Barnes, Shawnee Ambassador Ron Sparkman, Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby, Chickasaw Nation Secretary of State Bill Lance, Shawnee Development President Chris Floyd, Global Gaming Solutions CEO Skip Seeley, Guymon City Manager Mike Shannon, and Guymon Mayor Kim Peterson will take part in the opening ceremony.
Situated two miles southwest of Guymon along U.S. Highway 54, Golden Mesa Casino first opened in September 2019, offering a new draw for travelers in the Oklahoma Panhandle. At that time, it generated roughly $4 million in annual payroll.
The Shawnee Tribe retains ownership of the property, while operations are managed by Global Gaming Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Chickasaw Nation. With the expanded facilities, the partners anticipate attracting more visitors to the property.
