The Ministry for Gozo and Planning has entered into a strategic partnership with InvestGozo and international events company SiGMA, initiating a series of exclusive events to be held on the island in the coming weeks. These events are part of the lead-up to the SiGMA Euro-Med 2025 summit scheduled for Sept. 1–3 in Malta.
Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri said the agreement seeks to generate economic returns for Gozo by leveraging the summit’s presence in the Maltese Islands.
“We want Gozo to benefit from the economic impact this global event brings to the Maltese Islands. This strategic agreement recognises Gozo's unique potential and character. It forms part of our broader efforts to strengthen quality tourism and investment on the island," Camilleri said.
While Gozo is often associated with tourism, Camilleri said the government’s current initiatives are designed to support broader economic targets. These targets include investments tied to innovation and long-term development goals.

“This collaboration with SiGMA marks a significant step in our ongoing mission to position Gozo as a strategic hub for sustainable investment and innovation. These high-level retreats will not only spotlight the island's unique potential but also strengthen our long-term vision by fostering meaningful partnerships aligned with our economic roadmap," he said.
Camilleri also cited recent infrastructure initiatives such as the deployment of a second fiber optic cable, the expansion of fast ferry services, and the upcoming airfield project as contributing to Gozo’s appeal for commercial activity.
“These advancements are creating easier access for both leisure and business travel, enhancing Gozo's prospects as a premium investment destination. With guidance from the Gozo Regional Development Strategy and Malta Vision 2050, and through InvestGozo, we remain fully committed to building the right environment for sustainable economic growth, quality employment, and long-term resilience, while safeguarding Gozo's distinct character and identity," Camilleri added.
Ronald Sultana, director for tourism and economic development, said the events will bring international stakeholders to Gozo, moving beyond traditional promotional methods.
“We are going beyond virtual exposure by physically hosting around 100 investors on the island. This marks a milestone in Gozo's engagement with the global investment community," Sultana said.
This will be the first time Gozo hosts official SiGMA activities. The Ministry for Gozo and Planning is expected to take an active role during the SiGMA Euro-Med 2025 event. The agreement also includes provisions for joint efforts with other stakeholders to support event execution and engagement.

As part of the new arrangement, SiGMA will organize two events on the island. SiGMA Group CEO Emily Micallef confirmed that an Affiliate Retreat will be held from Aug. 28–30.
“We're proud to launch two key events as part of SiGMA Euro-Med 2025. The Affiliate Retreat, taking place from 28–30 August, will host 50 top-tier affiliate leaders. These individuals shape online communities and consumer journeys, generating millions in visits and revenue," Micallef said.
Minister Camilleri visited the SiGMA Group headquarters as part of the collaboration. He was received by Micallef, CFO Clive Terribile, and COO Heathcliff Farrugia. The visit included a guided tour and a private meeting.
