A new dual-branded Marriott hotel has opened next to Harrah’s Racing and Casino in Columbus, offering direct access to the property and racetrack views.
The Fairfield Inn and Suites and TownePlace Suites, developed by St. Louis-based Midas Hospitality, officially opened in June, the Columbus Telegram reported. The four-story property offers guests premium views of the racetrack, where horses thunder down the stretch, and direct access to the adjacent casino through a short interior corridor.
The hotel complex was constructed by Foreman Lumber, a local, family-owned business with deep roots in the Columbus area. The collaboration between Foreman Lumber and Midas Hospitality came in the wake of Nebraska’s 2020 constitutional amendments that legalized casino gambling at licensed horse racing tracks.

Craig Foreman, co-owner of Foreman Lumber, said the idea for the hotel came after his family was approached about adding accommodations to boost tourism. “We met with David Robert of Midas Hospitality, and his company is pretty down to earth and easy to work with,” he said. “They clearly understood the value of linking the hotel to the casino for a small town like Columbus.”
Foreman praised Midas Hospitality’s expertise in bringing the project from concept to completion. “From design to construction to readying the hotel for occupancy, they helped make the Fairfield Inn and Suites and Townplace Suites an immense success,” he stated.
Midas Hospitality also manages the hotel. The company develops and operates hotels across the U.S. for brands including Marriott, Hilton, and IHG.
Foreman Lumber, founded in 1952, supplies building materials and construction services in the region.
