Pennsylvania’s gaming industry hit a new milestone in May 2025, with gross gaming revenue surpassing $600 million for the first time in a single month, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) reported Wednesday.
The total gaming and fantasy contest revenue for the month reached $601.8 million, reflecting a 15.52% year-over-year increase, driven largely by strong gains in online casino gaming and sports betting. The state collected $255.1 million in taxes from the gaming sector during the period.
iGaming continued its upward trajectory, generating $232.8 million, a 33.76% increase over May 2024. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led all operators with $90.1 million, up 38.39% from a year ago.
Sports betting revenue totaled $59.4 million, up 34.39%, with a total handle of $655.3 million. Valley Forge Casino Resort was the top sportsbook operator with $28.4 million in revenue, followed by Hollywood Casino at the Meadows with $15.7 million.
Retail slot machines generated $224.9 million, up 5.02% year-over-year, despite a drop in the number of machines in operation to 24,347 from 24,862. In contrast, retail table games brought in $79.9 million, down 4.55% from last year, reflecting a softening in the land-based segment.

The PGCB noted it regulates 17 land-based casinos, online gambling, retail and online sportsbooks, VGTs, and fantasy sports contests.
