Casino Rama Resort is undergoing a sweeping transformation as part of a multi-million-dollar investment aimed at modernizing the longstanding entertainment complex and enhancing the visitor experience.
In recent months, the resort has launched a series of upgrades, introducing new restaurants, revamped hotel accommodations, and expanded spa facilities. The renovation initiative is a collaborative effort by Gateway Casinos and Entertainment, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), and the Rama First Nation.
Friday marked a key milestone in the redevelopment with the grand opening of MATCH Eatery and Public House. The newly launched venue, situated in the resort’s main rotunda, offers a contemporary take on pub-style dining.
“We certainly want to remain competitive within our marketplace. There are three large resort casinos in the province, and we want to continue to be the premier casino of choice for all patrons in Ontario,” said Tara Woodward, general manager of Casino Rama.
MATCH is the second dining venue added as part of the resort’s revitalization, following the opening of Chow Lucky Noodle Bar last fall. The property is also enhancing its wellness offerings, with a new spa facility now operating on the ground floor. Existing saunas, steam rooms, and a pool remain accessible on the third floor. Renovation of hotel rooms has begun, starting with the second level.
The recent grand opening drew attendance from several regional and provincial leaders, including OLG Chair Jim Warren, OLG President and CEO Duncan Hannay, AGCO Chief Registrar Karin Schnaar, Rama First Nation Chief Ted Williams, and Orillia Mayor Don McIsaac.
Further plans include the introduction of Atlas Steak and Seafood, which is set to open in the former St. Germain’s location. Casino Rama’s gaming floor has also been refreshed, with upgrades to slot machines complementing the resort’s updated look. According to officials, the renovation project has had a substantial economic impact, employing over 60 tradespeople during the ongoing construction phases.
