New Hampshire sports betting handle hits $77.8 million in October, the highest in seven months

New Hampshire recorded a sports betting handle of $77.8 million in October, its highest since March 2023, when consumers in the state wagered a record $103.4 million on sports. The state additionally recorded its highest monthly revenue since January. 

While the handle for October was 14.8% lower than $91.3 million in October of 2022, it was 16.5% higher than $66.8 million in September of this year. 

According to figures released by the New Hampshire Lottery, out of the $77.8 million spent in October, $65.9 million was bet on mobile and $12.0 million at retail sportsbooks across the state. The only operator that currently offers online sports wagering in the state is DraftKings after it secured exclusive rights for the state in 2019.

Gross gaming revenue in October reached $8.8 million, which was down by 3.3% from the $9.1 million recorded in October 2022, but higher by 41.9% from September this year, when the GGR was $6.2 million. 

As per the figures revealed by the lottery, the revenue recorded in October was only second to January’s revenue, a month where the state generated $12.6 million. 

Out of the total revenue generated this month, the maximum revenue generated was from online betting, which was $8.4 million and $334,433 was generated from retail wagering. The tax brought in through October’s revenue in New Hampshire was $3.8 million, with $3.7 million generated from online and $144,756 from retail.

The year-to-date betting handle in New Hampshire crossed $220.4 million for the first four months ending on September 30. While $193.2 million of this handle was bet online, only $27.1 million was bet on retail sportsbooks.

The revenue generated in this period amounted to $21.8 million. Of this, $20.2 million came from online wagering and $1.6 million from retail. The Lottery further noted that tax for the year-to-date period amounted to $9.5 million. Out of this, online wagering generated $8.8 million, and retail betting $720,415.
