Great Canadian's $756M resort in Toronto set to open next week

Great Canadian Entertainment announced that its new casino resort in Toronto, billed as Canada's largest Las Vegas-style casino, will be opening its doors next week, on June 20, at 5 p.m. With an investment of approximately CAD 1 billion ($756 million), Great Canadian Toronto is described as one of the largest private sector projects currently in Ontario and is expected to generate over CAD 500 million ($378 million) in economic impact.

Great Canadian Toronto, described as "Canada's largest destination casino resort,"  encompasses a staggering 328,000 square feet of gaming space, including over 4,800 slot machines and 145 table games. "With an unparalleled variety of gaming experiences, exclusive VIP rooms, and state-of-the-art sports betting kiosks, Great Canadian Toronto promises an entertainment experience like no other."

Adjacent to Woodbine Racetrack, the resort will feature “a modern Vegas-style casino,” an integrated 400-room hotel, a 5,000-seat live entertainment venue, and multiple on-site dining options, bringing to life “a new, one-of-a-kind entertainment district” in Toronto. The existing Casino Woodbine, also operated by Great Canadian, will continue to operate until the resort debuts.

According to a press release, the destination will feature a PlaySmart Centre on the gaming floor, "filled with engaging interactive tools and valuable responsible gambling resources available for all players as part of its commitment to promoting safe play."
