Rush Street Interactive (RSI) announced Thursday it has become the first U.S.-based online casino and sports betting company to receive RG Check iGaming Accreditation from the Responsible Gaming Council (RGC) for its BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse sites.

The Responsible Gaming Council had announced Tuesday that the RG Check Accreditation Program had been embedded into the requirements for all igaming operators entering the Ontario marketplace by iGaming Ontario (iGO). On April 4, BetRivers real-money online casino and sportsbook will go live in the Canadian province.

“As another indication of its commitment to safe and secure gaming for customers, RSI proudly enters Ontario having achieved this globally renowned accreditation more than two years ahead of iGaming Ontario's mandated schedule for all iGaming operators to do so as a condition of participating in this market”, the company stated.

RG Check is regarded as the world’s most comprehensive and rigorous responsible gaming accreditation program. It was developed to meet or exceed all existing responsible gaming regulatory requirements and is valid for three years. Accreditation is reviewed by a panel of independent responsible gaming specialists.

The RG Check program, which is already used by land-based casinos in Ontario, will ensure the highest standards of responsible gambling will be maintained when new igaming operators enter the Ontario market, as it helps gambling venues and igaming sites evaluate, monitor and manage all aspects of their RG strategy and operations.

RSI stated that it was “especially proud” to announce this achievement in March as it was “Problem Gambling Awareness Month”, and that it still remains focused on being “at the forefront of this important topic”.

In an official press release, CEO of Rush Street Interactive, Richard Schwartz, said: “Receiving RG Check Accreditation is a testament to our commitment and execution of RSI’s corporate social responsibility strategy, which includes the continued implementation of the company’s responsible gaming initiatives. We want to ensure our valued customers and employees are equipped with the tools and resources necessary to help ensure a culture of safe, fair and fun gaming experiences”.

Shelley White, CEO of the Responsible Gaming Council, also commented: "RG Check is a clear demonstration that an operator prioritizes and embeds responsible gambling into the core of its operations. RGC commends BetRivers and PlaySugarHouse for achieving RG Check Accreditation. This achievement represents RSI's commitment to transparency, player safeguards, duty of care and continuous improvement, as well as contributes to creating a culture of responsible gambling and sustainable play. RG Check is an invaluable tool for managing risk and increasing the effectiveness of RG programming. RGC is proud to provide continuous support to RSI's harm minimization efforts."

Rush Street Interactive is currently live in 13 states in the U.S. and also internationally in the regulated gaming market of Colombia
