bet365 has now launched its iGaming services and products in Buenos Aires, Argentina, under dual city and provinces licenses, the UK-based online gambling company announced this week. A dedicated site, bet365.bet.ar, is now live.

The popular bookmaker secured dual BA licenses from the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC) and city regulator Lotería de la Ciudad (LOTBA). The new launch further expands the operator’s presence in Latin America, building upon other deals reached in the region, such as a partnership with Ganador Azteca to launch bet365.mx in 2019.

“We are delighted to announce the launch of a dedicated website for customers residing in Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires and Provincia de Buenos Aires,” said a bet365 spokesperson. “In a region with such intense passion for sport, we are excited to provide an unrivaled sports betting experience, with a key focus on both localized and international markets.”

In addition to sports betting, the company’s dedicated Buenos Aires site also offers online casino, poker, live casino and esports betting, among other products, now available to customers based in both the capital city and provincial jurisdictions.

The launch builds upon long-time plans to expand into Buenos Aires which were first outlined in 2019, a year in which parent company Hillside partnered with local business Pasteko SA, operator of Bingo Begui in the provincial jurisdiction of Berazategui.

Online betting officially debuted in the City of Buenos Aires in December last year. Bet365 now joins other operators already live in the Province and City of Buenos Aires, including Betsson, Codere, BetWarrior and Jugadon.

At a national level, the City of Buenos Aires joined other jurisdictions where electronic gaming platforms are already operating, such as the provinces of Mendoza, Santa Fe, Corrientes, Chaco, Misiones, San Luis, Tucumán, Entre Ríos, La Pampa, Neuquén, Río Negro and Santa Cruz.

Following news of bet365’s launch, the Cámara de Agentes Oficiales de Lotería y Afines Bonaerense (CAOLAB), an institution working as a nexus between lottery agents and the LOTBA, stated: “Online gaming is already a fact in the Province of Buenos Aires.”

New operators authorized by the IPLyC are expected to join the market, and the CAOLAB intends to work on including its associated agencies “in the commercialization of this new form of gaming” in Buenos Aires.

The institution has now signed an agreement with bet365 and a marketing company on behalf of the UK operator. Online gaming is not part of lottery agents’ current offerings, which will now provide their customers public information and links to register through bet365 in exchange for monthly retribution of 16% on total net win for every gambler registered through the lottery agent.
