Great Canadian Gaming Corporation has announced that Shorelines Casino Peterborough, Shorelines Slots at Kawartha Downs, Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands and Shorelines Casino Belleville will be closing as of 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, in advance of the provincial lockdown.
The closures follow the Ontario provincial government’s announcement on Monday that all non-essential businesses across the province, including casinos, will be required to close as of 12:01 a.m. on Boxing Day (December 26), as reported by kawarthaNOW. The lockdown will last until Jan. 23 for all regions in southern Ontario, the government has announced. The health units not in southern Ontario will remain in lockdown until Jan. 9.
The four locations had re-opened on September 28 with a limited capacity of 50 people and no table games or food and beverage amenities.
The company’s other Ontario locations (Casino Woodbine, Elements Casino Mohawk, Elements Casino Flamboro, Casino Ajax, Great Blue Heron Casino, and Elements Casino Grand River) were previously closed this fall as a result of their respective health units moving into more restrictive public health measures.
Details regarding the reopening of the company’s Ontario properties will be announced at a later date.
